Tottenham 1 Cardiff 0: Roberto Soldado a top player, insists Michael Dawson
Tottenham 1 Cardiff 0: Michael Dawson hails Roberto Soldado after the striker's winner at White Hart Lane
Michael Dawson reiterated that Roberto Soldado is a “top player” after the Spaniard scored Tottenham Hotspur’s winner against Cardiff City.
The 28-year-old striker has endured a testing first season in the Premier League after completing a big-money £27.5m move to Spurs from Valencia last summer.
The fans have been behind him every step of the way and he is a top player
And Soldado scored his first Tottenham goal in nine games in all competitions as he broke the deadlock by finishing off a sweeping Spurs counter-attack in 28th minute.
It was the former Los Che forward’s sixth Premier League goal of the season, and Spurs captain Dawson reiterated the support that Soldado benefits from at the club.
“We have been wishing it in for him, he’s settled in well and we are just delighted to see him score. The fans have been behind him every step of the way and he is a top player,” said Dawson.
Meanwhile, Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was pleased with his side’s improvement despite failing to secure a point against Spurs.
“It was a big improvement, that was a team, a team who believed in what we are doing who had a real go,” Solskjaer said.
“It was a poor goal to concede, it was our free-kick and a counter attack against us but those are those margins that go against you but we will get them turned.”
