Tim Sherwood has dropped a big hint he may have a Tottenham future beyond the end of the season after confirming that he has given chairman Daniel Levy a list of summer targets.

The 45-year-old, whose side face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, signed a contract until the end of the 2014-15 season after replacing Andre Villas-Boas in December.

It depends, because if you get one then you don’t need the other. About four …

Sherwood’s position has come under threat in recent weeks, with Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal declaring his interest in the former Blackburn Rovers captain’s job.

However, the Tottenham boss revealed that he has spoken to Levy about potential targets in the summer transfer window, indicating the Spurs hierarchy may opt to stick with Sherwood.

“I’ve given him a list of players of who I want for next year. You need to start looking, this is the time. The chairman’s got a list of the players who I would like,” Sherwood said.

Asked how many players were on his wish list, Sherwood replied: “It depends, because if you get one then you don’t need the other. About four…”

Sherwood has been linked with a summer move for Cardiff City centre-half Steven Caulker, who joined the Welsh side from Spurs in a £10m deal last summer.

However, the head coach wouldn’t shed any light on reported Tottenham interest.

“He’s their player. We’ve sold him, it’s not a case he can come back unless we decide to buy him,” added Sherwood.
