West Brom 0 Man United 3: We must prove ourselves, says Rooney
West Brom 0 Man United 3: Wayne Rooney calls on the Red Devils to show they "mean business" in coming weeks
Wayne Rooney challenged Manchester United to show that they “mean business” in the closing stages of the season after a comfortable win at West Brom.
United took the lead at The Hawthorns in the 34th minute when Phil Jones powered in a header, before Rooney’s close-range finish and Danny Welbeck’s goal wrapped up victory for David Moyes’ men.
It’s a big challenge for us and it’s up to us to us to take that challenge

The win saw United close the gap on fifth-placed Tottenham to five points ahead of Spurs’ trip to Chelsea.
And Rooney is desperate to help the Red Devils embark on a positive run in a crucial period of the season.
“We were hurt after the Olympiacos game, of course we were, we wanted to come and show everyone we’re a good team and fight for the shirt and for our place in the team,” Rooney told BT Sport.
“I think that showed today, we played with great energy and we were exciting and we always looked a threat.
“The 3-0 win was deserved and maybe it could have been more.”
Rooney continued: “Liverpool next and then Olympiacos, where we’re two goals down, then West Ham away and City.
“It’s a big challenge for us and it’s up to us to us to take that challenge, show everybody we’re a good team and that we mean business.”
