Nigel Winterburn has urged Arsene Wenger to change his Arsenal transfer policy and splash the cash in the summer transfer window.

The north London side were heavily linked with a move for Schalke starlet Julian Draxler during the January transfer window but a move failed to materialise.

He’s got to go into the transfer market and really strengthen this team

The Gunners have also been reported to be tracking on-loan QPR striker Loic Remy with a view to a potential summer transfer.

And with Arsenal having fallen out of the Premier League title race in recent weeks, former Gunners defender Winterburn feels that Wenger must change his spending policy to reverse the club’s fortunes next season.

“Arsene Wenger has got to change his transfer policy if he stays,” Winterburn told talkSPORT.

“He’s got to go into the transfer market and really strengthen this team because they have struggled against the big boys.”
