Arsenal under so much pressure, says Everton’s Kevin Mirallas
Everton forward Kevin Mirallas believes Arsenal are under "so much pressure" in the race to secure a top-four finish
Kevin Mirallas believes there is “so much pressure” on Arsenal in the race for a fourth-place finish after Everton’s 3-0 win against Gunners.
The Toffees notched their sixth successive Premier League victory after goals from Steven Naismith, Romelu Lukaku and a Mikel Arteta own goal.
There’s so much pressure on Arsenal now because things are in our hands
Everton, who have played a match less than the Gunners, are a point behind fourth-placed Arsenal but Roberto Martinez’s side can secure the final Champions League spot if they win their remaining games.
And Belgium international Mirallas declared that Everton are putting the Gunners under pressure in the race for a top-four finish.
“There’s so much pressure on Arsenal now because things are in our hands,” Mirallas is quoted as saying by Liverpool Echo.
“They are almost obliged to be in the Champions League, that’s what they do.
“They’ve qualified for years, but we are breathing down their necks and we can go fourth if we win our game in hand.”
Naismith insisted that Everton have what it takes to pip Arsenal to qualification for next season’s Champions League after Sunday’s comprehensive victory over the Gunners.
“It would mean everything [to finish in the top four] but we have believed from the start of the season and we have shown that in these recent performances,” added Naismith.
