Arsene Wenger sings Mesut Ozil’s praises after Arsenal beat Hull
Arsene Wenger hails the impact of Mesut Özil after the Arsenal playmaker makes return from injury at Hull
Arsene Wenger singled out Mesut Ozil for special praise after the Arsenal playmaker made his comeback from injury in Sunday’s 3-0 win at Hull City.
The 25-year-old Germany international made his first start for over a month after being out of action with a hamstring strain and played 60 minutes at the KC Stadium.
Ramsey and Ozil give us a cutting edge in the final third
And after Lukas Podolski’s double added to Aaron Ramsey’s opener to hand the north London side victory, Wenger spoke glowingly of Ozil.
“Ramsey and Ozil give us a cutting edge in the final third that makes us look more dangerous to score,” said Wenger.
“You know as well as I do that football is down to quality of the players and we all know that. You could see that today.
“Ozil always has the timing of his pass. The incisiveness of passing makes you always turn quickly from defence to offence. That is of course very important.”
Wenger also gave his take on the race for Champions League qualification as his side stayed in fourth place and a point clear of Everton.
“We knew we had to win today and we had that kind of pressure,” he added.
“But I think you could already see that against West Ham there is something better in our game and today there was much more oil in the engine again.”
