Atletico Madrid 0 Chelsea 0: Mark Schwarzer reflects on a job well done after helping the Blues keep out the La Liga side
Mark Schwarzer reflected on a job well done after Chelsea’s battling defensive performance against Atletico Madrid left their Champions League semi-final tie evenly-poised.
The Blues lost Petr Cech to a suspected shoulder injury after the goalkeeper fell awkwardly keeping out a corner, but Schwarzer had little to do in keeping the La Liga side at bay in Madrid.
We knew if we could match their determination that our quality would come through

Chelsea’s best chance of the night fell to Ramires but the midfielder fired wide.
The goalless draw leaves the last-four tie wide open ahead of next week’s return leg at Stamford Bridge – and Schwarzer was pleased with fighting spirit shown by Jose Mourinho’s men.
“I think everyone was right up for it, which you expect,” Schwarzer told ITV1. “We’ve got quality, world-class players in the side and we didn’t expect anything less.
“We knew if we could match their determination that our quality would come through. OK, we didn’t create too many chances but we did a good job tonight.
“We’ve got to take each game of it comes. Sunday is a massive game [at Liverpool in the Premier League] and after that it’s the return leg.”
