Chelsea can overturn PSG deficit, insists Frank Lampard
Frank Lampard is certain that Chelsea will be able to beat Paris Saint-Germain and reach Champions League semi-finals
Frank Lampard is convinced that Chelsea have what it takes to overturn their 3-1 first-leg deficit against Paris Saint-Germain and reach the Champions League semi-finals.
The Blues host the Ligue 1 champions at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night knowing that a 2-0 victory will see them through to the last four.
We have to have confidence in ourselves and go and try and turn it around
And veteran midfielder Lampard is certain that Jose Mourinho’s men will give themselves a good chance of bouncing back from last week’s defeat in Paris.
“We have to be positive and we have to try and win the game,” Lampard told Chelsea’s website.
“At the same time we have to try to keep our heads. With the squad we’ve got and the players we’ve got we can the game by two goals, for sure, but we can’t be too gung-ho. It’s about finding the right balance on the night.
“We’ve been disappointed since the first game and there’s not been so much focus on what we will do on Tuesday night because of the Stoke game but we’ll look it at. I think that is when you trust the manager. He is very strong in these situations.
“The problem with Champions League football is that you can’t settle for having good periods in the game like we did the other night. The quality levels are so high that in little moments you can end up losing the game.
“That was the disappointing thing about Paris but we’ve got the ability and we’ve got the desire. We have to have confidence in ourselves and go and try and turn it around.”
