Chelsea can’t give up league title bid, says former Liverpool captain
Liverpool legend Phil Thompson wants Jose Mourinho to field his strongest possible Chelsea side at Anfield on Sunday
Chelsea would be wrong to give up their Premier League title bid, according to former Liverpool captain Phil Thompson.
Blues manager Jose Mourinho claimed that he would rest his key players for the trip to Anfield ahead of the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.
You cannot give this up because it’s a fantastic prize to win the English Premier League

Current leaders Liverpool have the opportunity to end the west London side’s hopes of winning the Premier League title with victory over Mourinho’s men on Merseyside on Sunday.
But former Liverpool captain Thompson wants the Chelsea manager to field his strongest possible side against the Reds in the potential title decider.
“Jose can say all he wants – the players will still believe. You cannot give this up,” Thompson told Sky Sports News.
“I hope whoever is available for Chelsea plays. I know they’ve got an important game, but equally you cannot give this up because it’s a fantastic prize to win the English Premier League.”
Chelsea played out a 0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their semi-final tie at Vicente Calderon.
