Chelsea supporters chanted “see you next year” as Costa failed to score against the Blues in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final last week.
And the Atletico striker reiterated that he is happy in the Spanish capital.
“I didn’t understand anything. I heard my name and asked what they said. I wasn’t paying much attention. But I’m very happy here,” Costa is quoted as saying by Inside Spanish Football.
The 25-year-old has scored 27 goals in 33 La Liga appearances this season, and Atletico president Jose Luis Caminero is confident that the club can keep the Brazilian-born star.
“Last year we wanted to consolidate the group of players that we currently have, we renewed the contracts of pretty much all of them, including Diego Costa,” Caminero told Movistar.
“Our minds are set on keeping this group of players together and steadily bring in one or two more, who can reinforce what we’re doing with our project. We want all our big players to stay and we’re planning for next season with him.”
