Daniel Sturridge: Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers tactically the best

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge says Brendan Rodgers is tactically the best manager that he has worked with in his career

Daniel Sturridge has declared that Brendan Rodgers is tactically the best manager that the Liverpool striker has worked with.

The 41-year-old Northern Irishman lured the England international to Anfield in a £12m deal from west London side Chelsea in January 2013.

He is always trying to get the most out of me and reach my limits

Sturridge hit the ground running at Liverpool after a frustrating spell at the Blues, scoring 34 goals in 45 games in all competitions.

Rodgers has also rebuilt Sturridge’s confidence, resulting in a return of 20 goals in 27 Premier League appearances this season, with only Luis Suarez scoring more in English top-flight.

And Sturridge highlighted Rodgers’s excellent man-management and his tactical nous following a 2-1 win against West Ham United at Upton Park at the weekend.

“Tactically, he’s the best [manager] I have worked with. From a man-management point of view, he’s always pushing to get the best out of me,” Sturridge told Liverpool’s website.

“He is always trying to get the most out of me and reach my limits. He’s done a lot for me and hopefully I can pay him back with some good performances.”

Liverpool are currently two points clear of second-placed Chelsea ahead of their clash against fellow title rivals Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.
