‘David Moyes would do a really good job at Tottenham’

Leeds United legend Johnny Giles believes David Moyes would do a great job at Tottenham Hotspur

Sacked Manchester United manager David Moyes

David Moyes would do a really good job at Tottenham Hotspur, according to Johnny Giles.

Manchester United sacked 51-year-old Moyes last week after the Red Devils suffered an 11th Premier League defeat of the season under Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor.

The former Everton manager has already been linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job as Tim Sherwood’s long-term future continues to look uncertain at Spurs.

And Giles, who won two top-flight titles with Leeds United, backed Moyes to bounce back from his sacking and reckons he would do a very good job at White Hart Lane.

“I don’t think it [Moyes’s reputation] is too damaged. People will see it for what it is. He had 11 years at Everton. He did a really good, solid job at Everton. You can’t undo that,” Giles told Newstalk.

“I think if he goes to Spurs, he would do a really job working at that level. That is if Daniel Levy gives him the opportunity to do so and doesn’t start interfering in the transfers as he has done in the past.

“It is no surprise the most successful time they’ve had at Spurs in recent years was when Harry Redknapp was in charge and there was no director of football.

“They left Harry Redknapp get on with it. If they do that with Moyes, I feel he would do a very good job.”
