Roberto Martinez believes that Everton have a chance of making Romelu Lukaku’s loan a permanent deal at the end of the season.

The Belgium international has been in impressive form since moving to Goodison Park on loan from Chelsea, scoring 13 goals in 25 Premier League games.

Lukaku has also been linked with a permanent switch to Tottenham Hotspur in recent days, but Toffees boss Martinez is hopeful that the Merseyside club will be able to keep hold of the 20-year-old.

“He’s a grounded and intelligent young man, who is not going to be swayed by the materialistic aspect of the game,” said Martinez.

“What can we offer him? Just enjoying his football.

“As a player, happiness is something that is very important. When you can offer football happiness it’s an incredible opportunity.”
