Gerard Houllier backs Liverpool to win the Premier League title

Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier backs the Reds to win the Premier League title with three games remaining

Gerard Houllier has backed Liverpool to win the Premier League title this season.

The Reds are five points clear of second-placed Chelsea after a 3-2 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road on Sunday.

They have three games, but the team has got consistency and a lot of confidence

Gerard Houllier

Brendan Rodgers’s Liverpool side face Chelsea in a potential Premier League title decider at Anfield on Sunday.

And Houllier, who led the Reds to a second-place finish in 2002, heaped praise on the current Liverpool manager.

“Yes, they will,” Houllier told the Liverpool Echo.

“They have three games, but the team has got consistency and a lot of confidence.

“They play and they go forward, they will always score goals, and they want it so badly that I think they will finish even stronger.

“It’s difficult now, even more so perhaps because you have clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, big clubs with big history and, in most cases, more financial means.

“But hats off to Brendan. I appreciate his philosophy and the way he goes about managing people. I like the man as much as I like the manager. He has done a remarkable job.”
