James Milner: Man City can’t blame Vincent Kompany for Liverpool loss
Manchester City midfielder James Milner says Citizens captain Vincent Kompany has saved his side many times this season
Manchester City can’t blame Vincent Kompany for their 3-2 loss at Liverpool, James Milner has insisted.
The Citizens captain was at fault for all three of Liverpool’s strikes in the potential title decider at Anfield on Sunday.
Vinny has been outstanding for us. I’ve been at the club for four years and he’s been absolutely outstanding

The Belgium international’s miscued clearance fell into the path to allow Philippe Coutinho to fire home a winner with 12 minutes remaining.
But Citizens midfielder Milner pointed out that the 28-year-old has saved Manuel Pellegrini’s side many times this season.
“Obviously he is disappointed, everybody is,” Milner told the Manchester Evening News. “You can’t blame Vinny, everybody makes mistakes.
“Vinny has been outstanding for us. I’ve been at the club for four years and he’s been absolutely outstanding. You can’t say anything like that because of the amount of times he’s saved us as well – it’s one of those things.”
Kompany has scored three goals in 22 Premier League appearances this season.
The Belgian defender took to his Twitter after the 3-2 loss to give his followers his thoughts on the loss.
That's football for you. Anyway, getting some treatment done tomorrow, back in training and then we go again. Never give up! #MCFC
