Jamie Carragher: I wish Man United were like this when I was playing
Jamie Carragher admits he wishes Manchester United produced their current poor performances during his career
Jamie Carragher has joked that is a pity Manchester United didn’t produce their current performances during his Liverpool career.
The Red Devils were comprehensively beaten by top-four chasing Everton at Goodison Park, with Leighton Baines and Kevin Mirallas scoring in an emphatic 2-0 victory over the defending champions.
United’s 11th defeat of the season has ended their chances of securing a spot in next season’s Champions League, with the Red Devils 13 points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
And Carragher, who was part of the Liverpool side pipped to the Premier League title by United in 2009, heavily criticised David Moyes’s side after Sunday’s inept display.
“That’s the worst I’ve seen from them over 90 minutes,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.
“When I played it was total dominance from Manchester United, I’m looking at this team and wondering why they didn’t play like that when I was playing.
“Shinji Kagawa on the left wing must wonder what this English football is all about.
“Nobody seems to know what’s going on on the pitch, or in the dugout. You can’t see what the plan is, what they’re trying to do.”
