Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen hails Raheem Sterling's incredible improvement at Anfield over the course of the season

Joe Allen has hailed Raheem Sterling’s “incredible” improvement after the Liverpool forward proved the match-winner in the 3-2 victory over Norwich City.

The England international broke the deadlock with a powerful attempt from 25 yards, before scoring Liverpool’s third with a superb solo run at Carrow Road on Sunday.

The improvements he has made in the time I’ve been here is just incredible

The 19-year-old, who moved to the Reds from Queens Park Rangers in 2010, has scored nine goals and made four assists in 30 Premier League appearances this season.

And Wales international Allen heaped praise on Sterling as the Reds moved five points clear of second-placed Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.

“It was an incredible performance from Raheem,” Allen told the ECHO.

“His first goal showed the talent he possesses. It was a great strike.

“The improvements he has made in the time I’ve been here is just incredible. He has become a very important player for us.

“I think it’s a combination of two things. Firstly, being given that chance to perform as young players can sometimes be overlooked.

“But the other side of it is being willing to work hard day in, day out to improve and Raheem has done that.”
