Jamie Carragher believes Jurgen Klopp would be the perfect fit for Manchester United.

The Red Devils begin their search for a new manager after the defending Premier League champions sacked David Moyes on Tuesday morning.

United have appointed their most decorated player Ryan Giggs as interim manager for the club’s remaining four Premier League games of the season.

And former Liverpool defender Carragher feels Klopp would be a better fit than Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal, who is the current favourite to replace Moyes.

“Louis van Gaal is the elder statesmen and the one with the experience on his CV. And maybe he has the ego to take on Manchester United,” Carragher told Sky Sports News.

“But with his age and being in the World Cup with Holland when United will want to be signing players, that might prove difficult.

“The other one would be Jurgen Klopp, who I feel would be a better fit. He is full of energy and full of personality.

“The way his teams play, that’s the way you want to see Manchester United play; full of verve, going forward and on the front foot.

“If it would be down to the names mentioned, I think it is Jurgen Klopp. He has done a great job at Dortmund and almost won the Champions League.

Carragher added: “Watching the way Dortmund play, I feel Klopp would be the perfect fit.”
