Brendan Rodgers’s side boast a narrow two-point lead over the west London side after capitalising on Chelsea’s slip-up at Crystal Palace by beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 at Anfield.

I would put Liverpool long way ahead favourites to win ahead of Chelsea but I’d still put Manchester City top of the pile

Pat Nevin

Liverpool, who make the tricky trip to West Ham United on Sunday with Chelsea and Manchester City playing a day earlier, welcome Jose Mourinho’s side and the Citizens to Merseyside in April.

Nevin reckons Manuel Pellegrini’s men are big favourites to win a second Premier League crown, but should the Eastlands outfit miss out, the former Chelsea winger’s money is on Liverpool to triumph.

“I have always felt Manchester City were a better side. We all know where the weaknesses are in terms of Arsenal and Chelsea. I still don’t see any weaknesses in Manchester City,” Nevin told Newstalk.

“The thing is – and this is the dark horse – I didn’t see that Liverpool would be hammering outside lane like they have.

“I believe now, and I know in terms of points there isn’t much in it between Liverpool and Chelsea, I would put Liverpool long way ahead favourites to win ahead of Chelsea but I’d still put Manchester City top of the pile.”
