Luis Suarez will thrive in the Champions League next season, according to former Liverpool forward Jari Litmanen.

The Reds secured their place in the group stage of Europe’s premier club competition next season after a 3-2 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road on Sunday.

He is a player who can create something from nothing and he is really, really important for Liverpool

The 27-year-old Uruguayan scored his 30th goal in the Premier League this season as he helped Brendan Rodgers’s beat the Canaries and move five points clear.

And former Liverpool forward Litmanen expects Suarez to carry his brilliant domestic form into the Champions League.

“He is a goalscoring machine and very-well known, not only now here in England but in the whole world,” Litmanen told Liverpool’s website.

“Personally, as a fan, I want all of the top players playing at the highest level – and Suarez is one of the most dangerous strikers in the world.

“He is a player who can create something from nothing and he is really, really important for Liverpool.”

He added: “It’s been a great week. Liverpool won at Norwich and now they have a great chance of the title, then there was this game – a 45,000 sell out. It was unbelievable.”
