Liverpool striker Luis Suárez will be happy, says Gus Poyet
Sunderland manager Gus Poyet says Luis Suárez will be happy after his side hold Liverpool's title rivals Manchester City
Gus Poyet has joked that compatriot Luis Suarez will be happy after Sunderland secured a 2-2 draw at Manchester City on Wednesday.
Connor Wickham’s brace cancelled out Fernandinho’s second-minute opener and handed the Black Cats a slender lead with seven minutes remaining at Etihad Stadium.
I am sure that Luis Suarez is going to be happy because there is one team less

However, City did manage to draw level in the 88th minute as Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone spilled Samir Nasri’s strike into his own net.
The Citizens failed to conjure a winner as the Black Cats held on to secure a valiant point, leaving Manuel Pellegrini’s men six points behind league leaders Liverpool.
“We are playing for ourselves – we are not playing for Liverpool,” Poyet said.
“Maybe we helped them, and I am sure that Luis Suarez is going to be happy because there is one team less.”
Pellegrini admitted City were suffering a hangover from their 3-2 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, resulting in a disappointing performance against Sunderland.
“We did not play well but we had in our mind the game against Liverpool [on Sunday]. We did not deserve to win,” Pellegrini said.
