Liverpool transfers: Adam Lallana urged to stay at Southampton

Liverpool transfers: Matt Le Tissier says Adam Lallana would be doing his career "no harm" by staying at Southampton

Adam Lallana would be doing his career “no harm” by ignoring Liverpool’s interest in him and staying at Southampton, according to Matt Le Tissier.

Reports this week have claimed that Lallana would favour a move to Anfield ahead of Manchester United this summer as the speculation about his future continues.

I don’t think Lallana and Shaw would be doing their careers any harm by sticking around at Southampton

However, former Southampton man Le Tisser feels that the 25-year-old could continue to progress if he opted to stay at St Mary’s.

“The landscape has changed since I was a player, when you probably needed to play for one of the top four or five sides to be considered for England contention,” Le Tissier told the Daily Mirror.

“Now there is such a shortage of English players in the Premier League that it means you are bound to get noticed if you are playing well.

“The pool of English talent has shrunk so much that I don’t think Lallana and Luke Shaw would be doing their careers any harm by sticking around at Southampton.”
