Liverpool will win the title with 86 points, claims Roy Evans
Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans believes the Reds will win the league title if they win their next two games
Liverpool will win the Premier League title if the Reds finish with 86 points, according to Roy Evans.
Brendan Rodgers’s side are no longer in control of their own destiny after a 2-0 loss to Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday.
I’m confident we will win our next two games and I believe 86 points will win it for us
Manchester City can move ahead of the Reds on goal difference if both sides win their remaining Premier League games.
However, former manager Evans feels optimistic that Liverpool can still end their 24-year wait to win the English top-flight title.
“I know everybody is disappointed – the fans, Brendan and the players – with the way it went on Sunday, but the fact is we are still not out of it,” Evans told Liverpool’s website.
“We didn’t get the result we wanted but we still have a chance of winning the Premier League.
“You’ve got to be positive on all sides; there are still two games to go for us and three for Manchester City, but all of the teams have showed this season that they are capable of dropping points.
“City have it in their own hands but we always knew they were lurking in that position. I’m confident we will win our next two games and I believe 86 points will win it for us.”
