Vincent Kompany praised Manchester City for getting the job done after the Citizens were comfortable winners against West Bromwich Albion.

Pablo Zabaleta put the Citizens into a lead after 120 seconds as the Spanish right-back nodded past Ben Foster before Sergio Aguero doubled the home side’s lead inside 10 minutes.

We can still remember what happened for us two years ago. We take motivation out of it

West Brom pulled a goal back after a City free-kick broke down, and Graham Dorrans showed fantastic close control before volleying past Joe Hart to offer the Baggies hope.

However, City centre-half Martin Demichelis restored City’s two-goal advantage before half-time, with the Citizens staying in third place but moving to within six points of leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.

“It’s job done and we had some good spells in the game. We’ll take it with us in the final four games,” Kompany told Sky Sports.

“We can still remember what happened for us two years ago. We take motivation out of it but the most important thing is that we get back to the form we had at the beginning of the season. It looked like we were better against West Brom and if we take that into the next four games anything can happen.

“We knew David [Silva] was struggling. He’s been great for us and he put in a shift. Hopefully he’ll be back soon.”
