Man United long way off getting it right, says Arsenal legend

David Moyes needs to get every decision bang on from now on to survive at Manchester United, Martin Keown claims

Manchester United are a long way off getting it right under David Moyes, according to Martin Keown.

The Red Devils secured a morale-boosting 1-1 draw with Champions League holders Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

However, United are in seventh place in the Premier League and a staggering 17 points behind leaders and bitter rivals Liverpool.

And Keown believes the Red Devils had a squad capable of retaining their top-flight crown but Moyes has failed to get it right so far.

“He has to work out his best team and the players he can trust and rely on,” Keown told the Daily Mail.

“The best managers get it right quickly, and that’s why people praise Jose Mourinho. He’s had success almost instantly at every club he has been to but even this season he has found things more difficult.

Keown continued: “United are a long way off getting it right, but I think David Moyes has got to get every decision bang on from now on.

“There’s no magic wand, but there are players there who were good enough to win the Premier League and they are now mid-table. That needs to improve and the players that come in need to be improvements, too.

“He needs to assess where those improvements need to be made and what system he is going to play, particularly with the trio of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata.”
