Man United transfers: Red Devils suffer Mario Madzukic setback
Man United transfers: The Red Devils are warned off a summer bid for Mario Mandzukic by Bayern Munich
Manchester United and Arsenal have been told not to bother with any summer bids for Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic by the Bundesliga club’s chief executive.
The Croatia international has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all touted as possible destinations for the striker.
However, Bayern chief Karl-Heniz Rummenigge has all but ruled out the possibility of the Bundesliga champions selling the 27-year-old at the end of the season.
“I spoke with Mandzukic and I know he will stay at Bayern Munich,” Rummenigge told Sport Bild.
“Mario is a very important player for the club and has a contract until 2016.
“Lewandowski? We are glad for his arrival and at the same time are pleased to carry on with Mandzukic.”
Mandzukic has scored 18 goals and made four assists in 29 Bundesliga appearances this season.
