Rio Ferdinand says that he would like to stay at Manchester United beyond the end of the season.

The 35-year-old defender’s contract expires in the summer and it is not yet clear whether the former England international will continue at the club.

There has been speculation that Ferdinand could be ready to retire at the end of the current campaign – but the veteran centre-half says he would be happy to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

“I’m enjoying my football and my legs haven’t given way yet,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“I want to continue playing – whether that be at Manchester United or somewhere else, depending what the club want to do. Time will tell. We’ll have to wait until the end of the season.

“I’m living the dream and I’d like to continue [at United], but we’ll have to wait and see.”
