Mourinho delivers latest Chelsea injury update ahead of Liverpool trip
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho confirms that John Terry is set to miss their trip to Liverpool on Sunday
John Terry will miss Chelsea’s trip to Liverpool on Sunday and is a doubt for next week’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid, Jose Mourinho has confirmed.
The 33-year-old centre-half was forced off in the second half of the goalless draw with Atletico in the first leg of their last-four clash on Tuesday after picking up a foot injury after an innocuous clash with Diego Costa.
“He won’t make this weekend and I don’t think he can make next week. But let’s wait… He has a little chance [of making Wednesday],” Mourinho told his pre-match media conference.
The Chelsea manager also confirmed that playmaker Eden Hazard will sit out the clash against the Premier League leaders and is unlikely to face Atletico after missing the first leg with a calf strain.
“[Hazard is] out for Sunday and [for] Wednesday, let’s wait,” Mourinho added.
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech dislocated his shoulder in the 0-0 draw at Vicente Calderon, whilst Samuel Eto’o picked up an injury in the final training session ahead of the trip to Madrid.
And Mourinho confirmed that Chelsea’s injury situation remains the same, adding: “All of them injured… No [no-one is coming back].”
