Mourinho gives latest Chelsea injury update ahead of PSG clash
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho expects Andre Schürrle to be fit to face Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night
Jose Mourinho is optimistic that Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle will be fit to face Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
The Germany international was forced off in the second half of Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Stoke City on Saturday after a collision with Charlie Adam.
However, the Blues manager reckons Schurrle will recover from the foot injury to be fit for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
“I believe he will be okay to play [on Tuesday],” Mourinho told Chelsea’s website.
“I like aggressive football and I can’t get inside the mind of a player to decide if the intention was to hurt or not, so it’s fine for me.”
Schurrle said he is relishing the challenge of overturning a 3-1 first-leg deficit after ending their two-game losing streak.
“We needed this win, we had to win because we wanted to keep in the title race,” said Schurrle.
“We have the three points, that is what we wanted and now we are looking forward to the match against Paris on Tuesday.
“It is difficult because we know it is not in our hands to win the Premier League title, but we don’t want to give anything away so we have to keep the pressure on. We have to win every match we play and then we will see where we stand at the end.”
