Moyes gives latest Man United injury update ahead of Everton trip
Wayne Rooney is available for Manchester United's trip to Everton on Sunday, David Moyes confirms
Wayne Rooney is available for Manchester United’s trip to Everton on Sunday after recovering from a toe injury, David Moyes has confirmed.
The England international needed a painkilling injection to be fit for United’s Champions League quarter-final defeat at Bayern Munich but Moyes revealed that the striker has been in full training this week and will travel to Goodison Park.
We’re hopefully getting him back as he wasn’t quite right with his toe
Moyes also confirmed that midfielder Marouane Fellaini is back available, but Rafael and Jonny Evans remain sidelined.
“Rooney trained great this week and has been in really good form,” said Moyes.
“We’re hopefully getting him back as he wasn’t quite right with his toe at times. He’s trained great though.
“Fellaini didn’t play against Bayern but we expect him back fit because he has trained all week. Evans is making progress but Rafa is the one player not available.”
Moyes also confirmed that striker Robin van Persie is continuing to receive treatment on knee injury in Holland.
“Robin is in Holland and improving but we always thought it would be four to six weeks,” he continued.
“We’ll have a better assessment in the next week or so. Our medical team is heading out there to see him this week to get a better feel as to exactly where he is.”
