Pellegrini gives latest Man City injury update ahead of Palace trip
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says he won't know the severity of David Silva's injury until Tuesday
Manuel Pellegrini remained tight-lipped on the severity of David Silva’s injury after the Manchester City midfielder was stretchered off during a 3-1 win against West Bromwich Albion.
The Spain international was a bright spark for the Citizens but had to be replaced after picking up an apparent ankle injury in the 70th minute at Etihad Stadium.
The problem with David is that he played the last games with that pain. I don’t know if that pain has increased or he has another problem
But Pellegrini insisted the Citizens wouldn’t know the severity of the problem until Tuesday: “Well David Silva has a problem with his ankle. We’ll see tomorrow how bad it is.
“He played the last three games with some pain in his ankle, so we’ll have news about him.”
He added: “The problem with David is that he played the last games with that pain. I don’t know if that pain has increased or he has another problem.”
Aguero scored his 16th Premier League goal of the season in the 10th minute at Eastlands, and Pellegrini played down any concerns about the Argentine’s fitness after he lasted 64 minutes.
“Sergio Aguero doesn’t have any problems. Playing the way he was playing today, he was always running. So it is important for him to recover. Giving him more minutes but not the 90 minutes.”
Pellegrini added that Yaya Toure could face Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
“Yaya can be fit for the next game [at Palace],” he added.
