Steve Bruce wasted no time in piling the pressure on Arsenal after watching his Hull City side book their place in the FA Cup final against the Gunners with victory over Sheffield United.

United went ahead when Jose Baxter stabbed in, before Hull levelled through Yannick Sagbo’s close-range finish. But Stefan Scougall quickly smashed in to give the Blades the lead again.

However, Hull turned the game around in the second half at Wembley thanks to goals from Matt Fryatt, Tom Huddlestone and Stephen Quinn.

Jamie Murphy’s late goal set up a tense finale but David Meyler sealed Hull’s place in their first FA Cup final with a calm finish in stoppage time.

“The pressure is on Arsenal,” Bruce told BT Sport. “They haven’t won anything for a while and that will be brought up again.”

Bruce could not hide his delight at seeing his side book their place in next month’s showpiece.

“We are absolutely delighted. We needed one hell of a turn around but the one thing you can’t do with this team is write them off.

“You have to give credit to Sheffield United. They took care of the ball better than we did and we had a poor first half.

“We needed to go two up top and once we did that we have won out OK.

“There are always going to be nerves and it is how you handle it. We certainly found it difficult in the first half.”
