RaboDirect Pro12: Ryan Wilson and Jamie Eddie sign new Glasgow Warrior deals

Ryan Wilson and James Eddie are the latest Scottish internationals to agree new deals with Glasgow Warriors.

The duo join back row colleagues Rob Harley and Tyrone Holmes in extending their stay with the Scotstoun club this month with Wilson on the books until May 2016 and Eddie until May 2015.

Wilson, 24, joined the Warriors in 2010 and has made 78 appearances for the club and nine for Scotland since making his debut in the 2013 Six Nations against Wales at Murrayfield.

“Playing for the Warriors has given me the opportunity to go on and play for Scotland and I’m really enjoying my rugby just now,” said Wilson.

“There is a great atmosphere around the club and there is huge strength in depth within the squad. It was an easy decision for me to stay in Glasgow and I’m looking forward to the next couple of years.”

Eddie, 28, joined the Warriors as an apprentice in 2004 and reached 100 appearances for the club earlier this season and has also continued to feature for Scotland 7s in the HSBC Sevens World Series.

“Glasgow is my hometown club and I’m really happy to be staying,” said Eddie.

“We’ve got a really competitive squad and my ambition is to win a major trophy with the Warriors. I love being part of the club and I’m very excited about the direction it’s heading in.”

The Warriors are currently fourth in the RaboDirect Pro12 with three matches remaining and are chasing a top two finish to give them a home semi-final for the first time.

“Getting Ryan and James signed up adds further depth to the competitive group challenging for places in our back row next season,” added Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend.

“We always look to re-sign players we believe can drive us on to become a better side and Ryan and James will have big roles to play in our future.”
