Rio Ferdinand admits that it has been an “eventful” week for Manchester United after David Moyes’ sacking on Tuesday.

The 50-year-old was fired by the Red Devils after a disastrous 10 months in charge left United languishing in seventh place in the Premier League table.

United have appointed Ryan Giggs as manager on a temporary basis until the end of the season.

And veteran defender Ferdinand is looking forward to Saturday’s clash against Norwich City at Old Trafford.

Ferdinand tweeted: “Roll on match day….been an eventful week to say the least….looking for a good performance & result. #Mufc”

The defender’s comments come after former manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that he was disappointed at the way news of Moyes’ sacking was leaked before it was made official on Tuesday.

“It’s upsetting the way it came out,” Ferguson is quoted as saying by the Times at a charity lunch in Manchester on Thursday.
