Rodgers delivers latest Liverpool injury update ahead of Chelsea clash
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says the Reds will continue to assess Daniel Sturridge over next 24 hours

Brendan Rodgers says Liverpool will continue to assess Daniel Sturridge’s fitness over the next 24 hours ahead of their clash against Chelsea on Sunday.
The England international missed Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over Norwich City last weekend due to a hamstring injury which the 24-year-old suffered against Manchester City earlier this month.

Sturridge is one of the leading nominees for the PFA’s player and young player of the year awards after scoring 20 goals in 26 Premier League games this season.
And Rodgers, whose side are five points clear at the top of the table, reassured Liverpool supporters that Sturridge is working hard to be fit to face his former club.
“We will see,” Rodgers told his pre-match media conference.
“We’ll give it another 24 hours. He’s working hard with the medical team. So we shall see.
“But if he’s not fit, we’ve coped before; we’ve managed before without a number of players. We’ll go into the game with confidence. We’ll assess that over the next 24 hours.”
Sturridge has scored 34 goals in 46 appearances for Liverpool since a £12m move from Chelsea in January 2013.
