Santi Cazorla could not hide his delight after Arsenal booked their place in the FA Cup final thanks to a dramatic penalty shootout win over Wigan Athletic.

After a 1-1 draw at Wembley, the Gunners sealed a 4-2 penalty win over the Latics to give themselves a chance of ending their nine-year wait for a major trophy.

We deserve it due to all we did in FA Cup this season

And Spain international Cazorla is convinced that the north London side fully deserve their place in the final after beating Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham on their way to Wembley.

“We deserve it due to all we did in FA Cup this season,” Cazorla told Goal.

“The penalties, all the suffering of the match… I’m so happy I helped the team; that’s my job, to help my team-mates.

“Now we have to recover, and on Tuesday we have another important match [against West Ham]. Both are so important.

“To win a trophy after nine years… and [qualifying for] the Champions League is very important, too.

“We have many finals to win before the end of the season, and West Ham [on Tuesday] is the next one.”
