‘Tottenham manager Sherwood should play Friedel ahead of Lloris’
Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood should play Brad Friedel ahead of Hugo Lloris, according to Bruce Grobbelaar
Bruce Grobbelaar believes Tottenham Hotspur veteran Brad Friedel should play ahead of Hugo Lloris.
The American has spent most of the season playing second fiddle to the France international, making eight appearances in all competitions for the north London side.
I’m not a fan of Hugo Lloris at all. He’s not a full bag of tricks
27-year-old Lloris, who moved to Spurs in a £12.3m deal from Lyon in 2012, has conceded 47 goals in 33 Premier League games in a difficult season for Tottenham.
And Grobbelaar admitted he isn’t a fan of the French shot stopper, whilst praising West Bromwich Albion’s Ben Foster and Manchester United No1 David De Gea.
“Generally, in the Premier League, Ben Foster has been brilliant. I would play Brad Friedel more at Tottenham as I’m not a fan of Hugo Lloris at all. He’s not a full bag of tricks. De Gea has been brilliant at times.
“The other one I like is Tim Krul. But, once again, there’s lots of foreign keepers in there which is a shame for English keepers coming through. There’s not enough and you have to look to foreign keepers.”
Grobbelaar won six top-flight crowns, three FA Cups and the European Cup during a glittering Liverpool career.
