Tottenham needed a good performance, admits Hugo Lloris
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris challenges Spurs to finish as high up the Premier League table as possible
Hugo Lloris has underlined the importance of Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 victory over Fulham on Saturday.
Spurs bounced back from a disappointing performance at West Bromwich Albion after Paulinho, Harry Kane and Younes Kaboul all scored to secure three points for the north London side.
I hope we will take three more wins and finish the season as high as possible
And Lloris, who moved to White Hart Lane in a £10m deal from Lyon in 2012, admitted Spurs “needed a good performance” and challenged his team-mates to finish as high up the Premier League table as possible.
“We needed to start well, especially after West Brom and I think we did that,” Lloris told Tottenham’s website. “But we then conceded a silly goal, we need to learn from that.
“We scored quickly in the second half with Harry’s header, then scored the third. After, Fulham had some chances but we did the job.
“Now we have three games left, I hope we will take three more wins and finish the season as high as possible. We need to keep working, keep going and be focused for the next game at Stoke.”
Lloris also conceded that there was an element of luck about his penalty save to prevent Steve Sidwell scoring a second goal at White Hart Lane.
“You never know in football, especially in the Premier League, if they scored the penalty I’m sure it would have been another interesting end to the game,” Lloris added.
“Luck plays a part in penalties. There is more chance the striker will score than the goalkeeper will save but this time, the luck was on my side.”
