We’ll take it on the chin! Brendan Rodgers reflects on Liverpool loss

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers challenges the Reds to beat Crystal Palace and Newcastle United in their final two games

Brendan Rodgers has challenged Liverpool to win their final two Premier League games in the title race.

The Reds suffered a blow in their bid to win the Premier League for the first time after Chelsea sealed a 2-0 win at Anfield on Sunday.

We’ll take that on the chin; this is a great group of players, a very honest group, and we’ll continue to work on

Brendan Rodgers

The Blues’s victory puts Manchester City in the driving seat in the title race by virtue of their superior goal difference.

The Citizens are three points behind Liverpool with a game in hand, and Rodgers wants his side to beat Crystal Palace and Newcastle United and see “where it takes them”.

“Our objective is for ourselves,” Rodgers told Liverpool’s website. “We now need to win the two games and see where it takes us.

“Then we will be fine. The players have been absolutely fantastic. We’ll now focus on Crystal Palace and see where that takes us.

“I said how proud I was of them, because they were absolutely fantastic. We’ve been on a run of games and the games that we’ve won have been exceptional.

“To lose is obviously a big disappointment, because we haven’t had many games that we have lost.

“But we’ll take that on the chin; this is a great group of players, a very honest group, and we’ll continue to work on.”
