Brendan Rodgers conceded the Premier League title race is over after Liverpool suffered a late collapse at Crystal Palace.

The Reds appeared to be coasting back to the top of the Premier League after goals from Joe Allen, Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez put the visitors 3-0 up in south east London.

We win and lose together, so we will take the blame and move on

However, Damien Delaney and Dwight Gayle scored twice in the last 11 minutes to ensure a nervy finish before the Palace forward levelled in the 88th minute to deliver a blow to Liverpool’s title hopes.

The Reds move a point clear of second-placed Manchester City, but the Citizens can leapfrog Rodgers’s side if Manuel Pellegrini’s men beat Aston Villa at The Etihad on Wednesday night.

“Manchester City will go on and win it now,” Rodgers told BBC Sport.

He added: “It was obviously very frustrating. For 75 minutes we were outstanding.

“We scored three goals, we created many chances, then we conceded with 12 minutes to go and we have to see the game out better than that. You cannot come here against a very good side, be the threat that we were and then defend as we did. It is criminal really.

“It is the [fault of the] team, coach, manager, everyone. We win and lose together. The supporters were brilliant for us. They helped us get in front but we ended up conceding three goals in the last 12 minutes. We win and lose together, so we will take the blame and move on.”
