Crystal Palace

Julian Speroni Not at fault with any of the goals. Made a smart save keeping Suarez out and an even better save onto the post keeping Sturridge out. 6

Adrian Mariappa Struggled with Suarez and Sturridge’s movement and dribbling. Became resilient late on. 5

Joel Ward Seemed to lose organisation, like the rest of the Palace team, once Liverpool went three up but defended until the death when Palace drew level. 5

Kagisho Dikgacoi Couldn’t handle Liverpool’s fast tiempo in the second half and out done by the midfield’s sleek passing. Replaced by Ince. 5

Scott Dann Didn’t have an effect on proceedings in the game. 5

Damien Delaney Had his work cut out when one on one with Sterling. Found the back of the net via a deflection off Johnson from 25 yards out. 5

Jason Puncheon Tested Mignolet with a low long-range shot. Fizzled out in the second half. Replaced on the hour by Gayle. 5

Mile Jedinak Had a superb 25-yard shot brilliantly saved by Mignolet. Struggled with Liverpool’s attacks but managed to stabilise the midfield and defence as the game went on. 6

Marouane Chamakh A very quiet performance and never really got going. Didn’t help that Crystal Palace were defending for the majority of the game. Replaced by Glen Murray. 5

Joe Ledley At fault for Liverpool’s first goal losing his marker Allen. Didn’t seem to link well with Chamakh. 5

Yannick Bolasie Came into the game as the game went on and looked dangerous. After a fast break away, the winger driving down the left flank and provided Gayle with a low cross to finish low past Mignolet. 7

Substitutes

Dwight Gayle Had an immediate effect getting on the score sheet twice with two low finishes. Caused the defence problems with his fearless movement. 7

Glen Murray Linked well with Dwight Gayle, flicking a long ball into the path of Dwight Gayle for Crystal Palace’s third goal. 6

Tom Ince Failed to make an impact. 5

Liverpool

Simon Mignolet Not at fault with any of the goals. Had a positive performance in the first half and made excellent saves to deny Jedinak and Puncheon. 5

Glen Johnson Got forward well but was let down by his final ball at times. 5

Jon Flanagan The full-backs attacks worked well early on but proved costly and ultimately let Crystal Palace counter attack through the flanks. 5

Steven Gerrard A well worked corner that was whipped into the box and found an unmarked Allen. His distribution looked effortless at times as he looked to constantly supply the strikers. Added another assist with Sturridge’s goal. 6

Martin Skrtel Solid up until the final quarter of the game where the defence seemed to collapse. 5

Mamadou Sakho Followed Skrtel with a strong performance but ended up failing to hold out until the end of the match. 5

Lucas After being a rock in the midfield offering protection to the defence, the Brazilian like the rest of the team, seemed to switch off. 5

Raheem Sterling The young winger continued his great form and caused the palace defence problems with his mazy runs. Provided a lovely weighted through ball for Suarez. Replaced by Coutinho. 7

Daniel Sturridge Forced Speroni into a tremendous save with a curling effort from outside the box. Never gave up with when cutting in onto his left foot and was rewarded with a deflected shot, which trickled into the back of the net. Replaced by Moses. 7

Luis Suarez The recently awarded PFA player of the year continued his fine form and finished a well-crafted counter-attack. Looked extremely distraught after the final whistle. 7

Joe Allen (Man of the match) The shortest guy in the box scores with his head. Allen loses his marker and connects eight yards out from a Steven Gerrard corner to head across into the net. Did a fantastic job linking defence with attack. 8
