Andy Carroll believes Liverpool deserve to win the Premier League title – and is vowing to do everything possible to realise the Reds’s dream.

Liverpool will lift the top-flight crown if they beat Newcastle United and West Ham United to secure victory over leaders Manchester City at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

I am hoping that Liverpool win the league and I will do my best to score at the Etihad

Carroll, who is Liverpool’s club-record signing, moved to the Hammers on a permanent deal from the Merseyside club last summer after a difficult spell following a £35m switch.

But Carroll has no hard feelings about his disappointing spell at Liverpool, adding that he would like to see his former team-mate Steven Gerrard crowned a Premier League champion.

“I am hoping that Liverpool win the league and I will do my best to score at the Etihad. I have still got a lot of friends at the club and the lads were brilliant when I was up there,” Carroll is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.

“To be honest, I think that Stevie Gerrard deserves to win the league. He has been there so long and the football they have played, they ¬definitely deserve it.

“They are great fans and even when they were not winning the league or challenging up there, they were still fantastic. They stuck by the team and that is where they are now.”
