Liverpool have been the Premier League team of the season, according to Alan Pardew.

Newcastle United, who have lost seven of their last nine games, make the trip to Anfield on Sunday as the season reaches its conclusion.

They have got real pace in the team and in the modern game, that kills you

Liverpool can win the Premier League if the Reds beat the Magpies and West Ham United take three points against leaders Manchester City at Etihad Stadium.

Regardless of the eventual league winner, Newcastle manager Pardew reckons Brendan Rodgers’s attacking side have been the league’s best outfit over the course of the campaign.

“They have been brilliant. They have been the team of the season, probably, regardless of whether they win it or not,” Pardew said.

“It’s a tough game for us because at home, they have been awesome. They have got real pace in the team and in the modern game, that kills you.

“You look at Bayern Munich – it’s real pace everywhere. Real Madrid – the top teams, you have got to have that pace.

“It’s something that as a manager, you long for and hopefully, we can improve a little bit on in our team.”
