Liverpool transfers: Adam Lallana eyes Southampton stay
Liverpool transfers: Southampton captain Adam Lallana drops his biggest hint yet that he will stay at St Mary's
Adam Lallana has dropped a big hint that he intends to stay at Southampton amid interest from Liverpool.
The Premier League leaders have been linked with a £24m deal for the England international after scoring nine goals and making six assists in 37 top-flight appearances this season.
I want to keep progressing with the club
25-year-old Lallana, who has also been attracting interest from Manchester United, reiterated his desire to keep progressing with the south coast outfit.
“The club means the world to me,” Lallana told Southampton’s website.
“I’ve been here since I was 12 and I want to keep progressing with the club.
“I’ve got a great relationship with the fans. We’ve been on a journey, and this is the icing on the cake.”
Last week, former Liverpool defender Rob Jones backed Brendan Rodgers’s pursuit of Lallana as the Reds manager attempts to bolster his squad after securing a return to Champions League.
“I saw the Lallana story and it was very exciting,” Jones told The Sport Review.
“There is a lot of speculation at the moment about the team. There are 100s of players being linked to Liverpool – but that’s good.
“It shows that players want to come to Liverpool again – and the Champions League is going to help. He would be great player to add to the squad.”
