Liverpool transfers: Borussia Dortmind defender Marcel Schmelzer is flattered by interest from the Reds

Marcel Schmelzer insists he is feeling “very, very good” at Borussia Dortmund amid interest from Liverpool.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with a switch to the Reds as Brendan Rodgers aims to strengthen his squad after qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

The 26-year-old full-back has been a mainstay of the Dortmund side which has enjoyed success under charismatic manager Jurgen Klopp in recent season.

Schmelzer, who has a contract with Dortmund until 2016, has scored one goal and made three assists in 17 Bundesliga appearances this season after suffering a calf injury earlier in the campaign.

“Naturally I look forward to hearing things like that and it’s nice when top clubs are interested in you”, Schmelzer told WAZ.

“But I still have a contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2016. I feel very, very good at BVB.”

Schmelzer has scored four goals in 197 appearances in all competitions.
