Man Utd transfers: Rudi Garcia hopes to keep Kevin Strootman and stars
Man Utd transfers: Roma manager Rudi Garcia is hoping to keep his key players at the Rome outfit beyond the summer
Rudi Garcia is hoping to keep Roma’s key players as Manchester City and Manchester United reportedly prepare to raid the Serie A side.
New United manager Louis van Gaal is said to be keen to prise his Dutch captain Kevin Strootman to the Red Devils to solve the club’s long-running issues in midfield.
Meanwhile, Premier League champions City have been heavily linked with a move to sign Morocco international Mehdi Benatia.
However, manager Garcia is optimistic that Roma, who finished in second place behind Juventus this season, can keep their best players as the Rome outfit aim to challenge La Vecchia Signora next term.
“This group is fantastic,” Garcia told Roma Channel. “We hope to keep almost all of them and improve the team.
“We have already started to build for the future.”
Garcia hailed Miralem Pjanic’s decision to sign a new Roma deal until June 2018 earlier this month.
“Pjanic’s renewal is a good sign for the club, because our main aim in the transfer market is to keep our players,” Garcia said.
“Then we need to bring in players with experience.
“In some positions where we are a little short in terms of quantity, we need to weigh up our options.”
