Pellegrini gives latest Man City injury update ahead of Aston Villa clash
Sergio Agüero is ruled out of Manchester City's clash with Aston VIlla due to a groin injury
Sergio Aguero has been ruled out of Manchester City’s clash with Aston Villa on Wednesday after failing to recover from a groin injury.
The Argentina striker suffered the problem during the 3-2 win over Everton at Goodison Park last weekend but could be fit to return for City’s final game of the season against West Ham on Sunday.
It’s a difficult game because all the teams are under pressure
There was some good news on the injury front for City after midfielder Yaya Toure was passed fit for the visit of the Villains.
“Injuries are just Sergio Aguero. He couldn’t recover 100 per cent from his groin problem, so he’s not in the squad list,” said Pellegrini.
“Maybe he can have a chance for Sunday. We’ll see how he improves during the week to see if he can play on Sunday.
“It’s a difficult game because all the teams are under pressure. But I hope that if we play at home as we have so far we can win.”
Aguero had taken to Twitter to play down concerns about his injury, writing: “Thank you for your concern. I left just as a precaution. Fortunately I’m fine, happy for the goal, the win and keeping our dream alive.”
The 25-year-old Argentina international has scored 17 goals in 22 Premier League games this season.
