Per Mertesacker has urged Arsenal to maintain their intensity ahead of the FA Cup final later this month.

Olivier Giroud scored his 16th goal of the season as the Gunners were 1-0 winners against West Bromwich Albion at The Emirates on Sunday.

Arsenal have wrapped up fourth spot and their place in next season’s Champions Leagues thanks to their win against the Baggies.

And Germany international Mertesacker wants the north London side to continue their current form ahead of the clash against Hull City at Wembley.

“I think everyone is really up for the cup final and everyone really wants to win it,” Mertesacker told Arsenal’s website.

“That is the target and we’ve got one game to go and we want to take it very seriously.

“When you switch off, it’s hard to switch on again so we want to keep the focus and intensity high in training. But as you know everyone is looking forward to the last game and even more to the FA Cup final.”
