Jamie Carragher has heaped praise on Brendan Rodgers for the impact the Northern Irishman has had since taking charge at Liverpool.

The Reds are currently top of the Premier League table with two games left to play and have secured their place in the group stage of next season’s Champions League.

And Carragher, who worked under Rodgers last term before hanging up his playing boots at the end of the 2012-13 campaign, is full of admiration for the 41-year-old’s approach.

“I worked for him for 12 months and he was great with me and this success couldn’t happen to a nicer fella,” Carragher told the Liverpool Echo.

“He’s a great coach and man-manager and the way he flips and changes his side.

“If you get beat doing that, then people will say you are messing about with the team, but when you win, they say you’re a great tactician.

“He gets it right most of the time. He keeps the opposition guessing and at this moment he is one of the best around.”
