Arsenal transfers: Fiorentina determined to keep Juan Cuadrado
Arsenal transfers: Fiorentina want to keep Colombia star Juan Cuadrado despite interest from Barcelona and the Gunners
Arsenal face a battle to sign Juan Cuadrado after Fiorentina underlined their determination to keep hold of the Colombia star.
The 26-year-old has been one of the surprise stars of the World Cup after scoring one goal and making three assists to help the Central American nation reach the knockout stage earlier this week.
Cuadrado, who has been previously linked with a move to north London, has carried his Serie A form into the World Cup, prompting renewed interest from the Gunners and four-time European champions Barcelona.
However, la Viola are keen to keep the Colombia international in Florence, with Fiorentina attempting to deter any offers from potential suitors for the playmaker in the current summer transfer window.
“I’ve always promised to do the best to keep him in Florence and it’s my first aim. It’s really difficult, but I’ll do what is possible,” Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle said.
“We haven’t spoken with anyone and we have not asked anyone for any money.”
Cuadrado scored 11 goals and made five assists in 32 Serie A appearances last season.
